BASIC FIRST AID FOR SCHOOL / NGO (Only for NGO and School Uniform Body)
This course is the SJAM flagship first aid course, designed to impart knowledge and skills deemed necessary for providing competent help and care to the ill and injured in the case of emergency until proper medical help is attained. Although the course emphasises on skills, which includes Basic Life Support, the knowledge for better understanding of the first aid procedures is also addressed.

How long is a Basic First Aid course?
The course lasts two days (8 hours x 2) and takes place in the classroom.

- Assessment of Casualty (Primary & Secondary Survey and Monitoring Vital Signs)
- Prevent Cross Infection
- Basic Anatomy
- Medical Emergency
- Choking (Practical)
- Basic Life Support CPR + AED (Practical)
- Management of Wounds and Bleeding
- Burns and Scald
- Bone and Soft Tissues Injuries
- Management of Fractures (Practical)
- Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned
- Management of Foreign Bodies / Splinter in skin, eye, ear and nose
- Lifting & Handling of Casualty (Practical)
Assessment
Continuous observation by the trainer and objective exam.
Certificate
Successful candidates receive a certificate issue by St. John Ambulans Malaysia, valid for three years.
